A little over a year ago, I took a position as the headmaster of Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic School, an independent classical school located in Peterborough, Ontario.
Like many other classical schools, Wayside has been undergoing unprecedentedly rapid growth in the past few years. Like many classical schools, we may soon have to launch a capital campaign to fundraise for significant facility expansions.
The fact is that classical education is undergoing a “moment.” Hundreds of new classical schools have opened up across North America in recent years, while already-existing schools are recording record-level enrolment levels.
However, many people still don’t know exactly what classical education is. Recently, I was interviewed by Dr. Brett Salkeld on the Thinking Faith podcast on that topic. Ultimately, we only scratched the surface. However, the conversation should serve as a decent primer on this fascinating movement.
